You don’t just do music but you KNOW music? What inspired you to go after classical music, opera, musical theater and not just stop at being a good pop singer?
I started with classical music at a young age. We have a large Conservatory of Music here in Victoria. My vocal coach specializes in opera and she has given me a great understanding, respect and love for all types of music. I think this training has helped me find my voice 🙂
When did you know this career was for you?
Right from the start! I strive very hard to make high marks in school. Education is important however, I can’t see myself doing anything other than music. It is my passion.
Who was the first person that discovered your talent? (Mom heard you singing in living room etc.?)
My choir teacher, when I was in grade three. She suggested that I take private coaching lessons, and recommended a teacher to me.
Tell us about some of business side of the industry that people don’t know about?
I think when you are working with a team of people who are all experts in what they do, you have to go into the situation with an open mind, and try not to be attached to a specific outcome. In other words, it’s ok to trust other people’s opinions, as long as yours are not too compromised.
Tell us about the feeling you get when you perform on stage? Do you get nervous still?
I think everyone gets a bit of nerves performing. It’s how you use that nervous energy that counts. I look forward to the adrenalin rush of going on stage.
You’ve been performing for quite some time. Do you have any embarrassing moments?
Yes, it just happened where I had my worst performance ever, where nothing went right. I did not get a curtain call, so I had to run up the stairs to the stage, leaving me winded. When I was handed my mic it was turned off, and it took me a few seconds into my performance to realize that, and then I had to find the “on” switch! I then realized that I was wearing the wrong shoes. I just laugh when I think about it.
So we heard convince me. It’s a really hot track! Tell us about the track? What motivated you to write such lyrics? Is it a true story for you?
Thank you! “Convince Me” is an overall feeling that I have right now, about my personal life, life in general, the music industry, just so many things. If you want something you have to work hard to get it. I think it can relate to many different types of relationships.
When can we see the music video for this?
We will have the finished video by the end of the month! I can’t wait to put it out.
Who are some people that you’ve worked for so far in the industry that has helped you during this journey?
Wow, the list is so long, where do I begin? I have been so lucky to have worked with a great deal of really amazing people. I think to date, my long time classical vocal coach Joanne Hounsell , my Manager Tracey Singer, Producer Troy Samson, co-writers Troy Samson and Jeff Dawson, Photographer Erich Saide, Video Producer Ben Knechtal, I could just go on and on…These people have been amazing to me.
How do you pick yourself up when you’re having a rough day/week and need uplifting?
I take my dog Charlie on a run with me, while listening to my iPhone. My favourite run in Victoria is by the marina, and up through the uplands.
What projects are you working on right now? Album?
I am currently writing and recording the rest of the songs for my album.
What is the end goal you are trying to achieve with your music?
I just love to sing and write songs. I want to make people happy, and hopefully make a difference. If I achieve that then I feel like I have achieved my goal. Music isn’t what I do it’s who I am. Music is a way of life that for me, will last forever.
When not working on music what is Brooke Turner doing?
Spending time with my friends, reading a good book, running, riding my bike, long walks or just hanging out with my wonderful dog Charlie.
My favourite makeup brand is MAC.
Favorite Single on the radio:
Here’s to Never Growing Up by Avril Lavigne
Favorite song you like singing in the shower:

If I had to pick someone it would probably be Niall Horan 🙂
And what advice do you have for up and coming artists looking to get into the industry today?
Never give up on your Dreams, I strongly stand by the quote,“If you can DREAM it, You can DO it” ~Walt Disney
