I’ve always loved music and wanted to make my own, but was too timid to do so. I felt like I had a lot to say and I could relate to most of the people. That’s the number one thing that made me want to do music and I took that and put it in my music.
Did you always have a team of supporters like family and friends when you decided you wanted to pursue it as a career?
When you come from a small city where everyone wants to be a rapper, your dream as being one just falls right in with the rest. My family and friends always supported my music, but I think the support grew stronger when they saw how people reacted to my music.
Who are some of the artists you grew up listening to and who are you listening to now?
I grew up listening a lot of West Coast rappers, such as 2pac, Too Short, E40, Snoop, Dre, just name a few. Pac had the biggest influence on me, as a lot of people could say. Now my biggest influence in music today would have to be J.Cole, Meek Mill, Wale, to name a few. I feel they make music people can relate to, coming from nothing and ending with something.
What is your favorite song you’ve made so far? Why?
My favorite song that I’ve made so far would have to be a new song I just dropped called “The Mission”. This song represents everything that I stand for. It has that raw hip hop and the lyrics are straight up with you.
What are some of the low points you’ve experienced as an artist today?
Some of the low points I’ve experienced so far were having to deal with being new to the rap game. People don’t want to see someone doing better than them, so instead of helping or networking, they choose to try and hold them back. That is why I usually try to pave my own way and just stick to my grind and help others from my city.
Have you been working on any new material for the new year?
I’ve been working hard to put out new material for this new year. I’m sitting on quite a few songs with some still needed to be recorded, and also working on new visuals. I’m excited to put out my new work that I’ve put a lot of work into. I don’t have any dates on releases yet but it will be coming soon.
How do you want to grow as an artist?
As an artist I want to grow with my lyrics and also my connections with the fans that are listening. I feel that the number one goal is to stay connected with the fans. I also want to make better visuals for my music. I’m excited for what this year has in store.
